As a 12-year old 12th freshener,
Raindancer was a stylish, long-necked, smoothly blended doe with
a beautiful front end assembly and a high, tightly attached
udder with superior rear and fore attachments; she is the
matriarch of our herd. Raindancer died 11/2/5 at 13.5 years of
age; she will be forever missed for her outstanding conformation
and winning personality.
As a three year-old, Raindancer won a Best-In-Show, one Grand Champion, and
two Reserve Grand Champions. In
1996, she finished her championship, winning two more Grand
Champions.
In 1997 she was Best-Of-Breed three times at the prestigious REDGA
show, and Best-In-Show under Sheila Nixon; she was also Grand
Champion at the
Mendocino County Fair, and Reserve Grand Champion at the California State and Sonoma
County Fairs. In
1998 she won three Best-In-Shows, including the Mendocino County Fair,
five Best-Of-Breeds, and another Reserve Grand Champion at the California State Fair. In 1999, at
age 7, Raindancer was five times Best-Of-Breed , and
Best-In-Show at the District
VIII Alpine specialty. At
the National Show, she was 2nd with 2nd udder
in a class of 28, and part of our 1st place Breeder’s
Trio and 1st place Dairy Herd. In 2000,
she was awarded Grand Champion at the California State Fair, and
was Best-Of-Breed at the REDGA show under Kristi Bozzo and Lynn
Harrington. In 2001, she was 1st place Aged Doe at
the California State Fair, Sonoma County Fair, and Mendocino County Fairs, and
Reserve Grand Champion at
Sonoma and Grand Champion and Best-In-Show at Mendocino.
In 2002, at age 10, she was Grand Champion at the Sonoma County
Fair, and 1st place Aged Doe at the Mendocino and
California State Fairs. In 2003, Raindancer was 1st place Aged Doe at the
California State Fair, Mendocino County Fair, and was Reserve
Grand Champion at
the Sonoma County Fair; she was subsequently retired from the
showring.
Raindancer was a phenomenal brood doe; all our does are
descended from her. Three of Raindancer's daughters are
permanent champions.
