Kuma is the matriarch of our herd; most
of our animals are related to her and she consistently passes on
her overall correctness and superb mammary. We have been
especially pleased with her daughters Sine and
Resistance and
sons Radical Act and X-Factor; her two 2007 daughters by
Freelance are also beautiful.
A
smooth, flashy doe and seventh generation champion on her dam’s
side, Kuma Sutra’s style reminds us of her granddam, Raindancer. She excels in general appearance and length of
body, and is extremely level with a correct front end. Her
udder is beautiful, with an especially well-extended , smoothly
blended fore attachment and a high rear attachment with
tremendous width. As a milking yearling, Kuma Sutra placed
1st four times, including the California State and Sonoma
County Fairs, and was once Reserve Grand Champion, winning her
first leg. As a two year-old she finished her championship
at her first two shows, winning Grand Champion at the REDGA show
under Jennifer Bice and Sam Whiteside. At the 1999
Nationals, she was 3rd in a class of 59, and 1st udder; she was
also part of our 1st place Breeder’s Trio and 1st Dairy Herd,
and, with her dam, Harmony, was 1st place Dam and
Daughter. As a three-year old, Kuma did not freshen until
June, but did win 1st at the Sonoma County Fair, 2nd at the
California State Fair (where she was not fully bagged), and GCH
and BIS at Mendocino County Fair. At four, Kuma was Reserve
Grand Champion at the California State Fair, and 1st at Sonoma
County Fair. In 2002, she was again 1st at Sonoma, BOB at REDGA,
and GCH and BIS at Mendocino County Fair. In 2003, she topped
the 5-6 Year-Old class at the California State Fair and was
named Grand Champion, where her daughter Resistance was 2nd
place Milking Yearling, daughter Sine Qua Non was RGCH Junior,
and granddaughter Swing Dancer was GCH Junior. In 2004, at
7 years of age, Kuma was GCH and BIS at the highly competitive
Sonoma and Mendocino County Fairs.
In 2006 and 2007, Kuma continued to top the aged doe classes and
was many times 1st place Dam and Daughter with her daughter Sine.
Kuma is bred to Redwood Hills Ember Sierra (+*B Qu'Appelle
Ember x SGCH Redwood Hills Dynamic Solace 9*M), sire of the 1st
place Milking Yearling at the 2007 ADGA National Show. Sierra's
first milking daughters excel in general appearance and mammary
system. This exciting breeding will produce kids 3/4 related to
Sine and linebred on the great Sanstorms Dynamic. Kuma is due in
March.
